Did I mention that I sing? More precisely, I am a second base. I think I have been singing since about the same time as when I uttered my first words, but it wasn’t until I was about 17 that I started singing in choirs. That all started with a friend of mine dragging me to this newly started choir in my birth town, Burträsk. Since then I have never been totally without singing company.

To give an idea of that, here is a list of the choirs that I can remember being part of.

  • 1980-1987 (88), Gammbyssa Choir in Burträsk. We actually went on tour to Minnesota, USA, for two weeks the summer 1988.
  • 1980-1982, Youth choir in Burträsk church.
  • 1982-1983, Church choir in Stolplyckekapellet in Linköping.
  • 1983, Youth choir in Jokkmokk church.
  • 1983, Church choir in Jokkmokk church. Yes, that too.
  • 1984-1987, Youth choir in Lövånger church.
  • 1987-1989, Lihkören (now known as Linköpings studentsångare), an all male choir at Linköping University. Led by Hans Lundgren until 2014. This choir has done a lot of tours. I was part of its Jordan tour summer 1989. The first quality choir that I’ve been part of.
  • 1989-1996, Church choir in S:t Hans church, Linköping. Led by Marie-Louise Beckman, an excellent musician and conductor. I learned a lot as a singer there.
  • 1996-present, Linköping Chamber Choir. Led by Lars Beckman, also an excellent musician and conductor. Married to Marie-Louise above. I continue to learn a lot as a singer here.
  • 2005-2006, Tillit (trust) project choir that ended in the recording of a CD. Led by Oskar Ganestål, who managed to find a lot of good singers to this project. I enjoyed this a lot.
  • Christmas 2008, Vadstena Chamber Choir, a temporary choir led by Marie-Louise Beckman. We did all six Cantatas of Bach’s Christmas Oratorium the same day in two subsequent concerts in Vadstena Monestary Church with a break for food in between.

Apart from that, I have temporary helped out in various choirs, primarily in Linköping.
